Satin can be dyed with Dylon dyes if it is made of the right fiber. You’ll have to check the fiber content label, because knowing that the dress is made of “satin” tell you nothing about its fiber content. Satin can be made from easy-to-dye 100% natural silk, or it can be made from difficult-to-dye polyester. Dylon makes many different kinds of dyes, including Dylon Machine Dye, Dylon Permanent Dye, Dylon Cold Dye, Dylon Hand Dye, and Dylon Multi Purpose Dye. Most of them are fiber reactive dyes which work well on natural fibers such as cotton, as well as on viscose rayon. Dylon Multi Purpose dye is an all-purpose dye, which means it’s a combination of acid dyes that work on wool, silk, and nylon, with direct dyes that work on cotton, linen, and viscose rayon. None of Dylon’s dyes will work on polyester or acetate.
