Does english box hedge transplant very well?

Hi: It will depend on the age of your English Boxwood. If the Boxwood is over two to three years old, the root system is well established, and they would be difficult to transplant. I am a landscaper and designer and have transplanted Boxwood many times. The problem you run into with this plant specimen is the roots are deep. When the Boxwoods become older, they tend to get leggy on the branches and also the tap or mother root is very well established. My crew and myself have had to use the pick up and wrap chains around each individual shrub to pull them out of the ground. This was done when my clients wanted them removed, and not for transplant. If you don’t know the age of the Boxwood, loosen the dirt and put your shovel in and see if you can see the ball of the shrub. This will give you an idea of how deep the root ball is. If you have a younger Boxwood, you can transplant it. I will link you to the landscape article section of my website. There is a page on transplanting shrubs wi
