Does everyone receive the federal direct subsidized loan?
Not everyone qualifies for any or all of the $8,500 federal direct subsidized loan. It is known as a “need-based” aid program. In the event that the borrower does not qualify for the federal direct subsidized loan, he/she may borrow the full $20,500 in federal direct unsubsidized loan. For more information click here.
