Does FDA require lab tests for imported food products?
No. FDA does not require submission of lab tests when importing food products despite misinformation in some countries. It is not required to submit test results for heavy metal, microbiology, or toxicology. However, for a proper nutritional labeling purpose, you would need to get a basic nutritional analysis (Total fat, sugar, protein, etc.). Also, this analysis does not have to be done in the U.S., but at any legitimate laboratories in foreign countries.
