Does gum tissue grow?
You are talking about 2 different healing responses. Yes gum tissue will grow over a socket and fill in. It will not grow up the side of a tooth when it has receded for any reason. It may become swollen and inflamed and will appear larger but this is not healthy and you don’t want this. A gum graft would be the only way to hope for healthy reattachment of the gum tissue covering exposed root.
