Answer Dear Marilyn, Ibuprofen does not contain aspirin. Ibuprofen, or Motrin, is what’s called an NSAID(non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) and it is used to reduce inflammation and pain. It has not been proven, however, to reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke and should not be used to maitain a healthy heart. Aspirin 325mg once a day is the most commonly used regimen to protect the heart. If it upsets your stomach, you can try the enteric coated 325mg tabs. Another option is chewable baby aspirin (81mg).
