Does it cost to go on international exchange programs?
Yes, many of these programs require program fees. The fees typically may cover housing or homestay arrangements, program costs, health insurance, pick-up and orientation in the host country, and sometimes air travel. Make sure that you know what the program fee covers. For programs with less of a fee, you may end up paying for a lot yourself or find that you are mostly on your own since higher fees usually cover stronger in-country staff support. Some long-term volunteer or professional programs (such as teaching) offer stipends or a salary and do not charge a fee.
