Does it make any sense that Jesus was welcomed into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday…?

This isn’t ‘fishy’ it’s just human nature. The Jews at the time of Christ fully believed that the Messiah would take over the world when He came. The people of Jerusalem had seen innumerable miracles performed by Christ and many rthought He could be the Messiah, or at least a prophet. They welcomed him with worship because of all He’d done amongst them. But as soon as their religious leaders told them He was a rebel and accused Him of blaspheming God, they–like the sheep they were–turned on Him. Crowds are easily led and those people were no different. If any thought Christ truly was the Messiah, they could have reasoned that He wouldn’t have allowed them to take Him prisoner and certainly wouldn’t have died, so sure were they in their beliefs that the ‘real’ Messiah would come only once and would throw out the Romans and rule the world. God was making a vital point here–people who acted so sincerely in favor of a man one day could so easily be persuaded to see him as evil the next!
