Does it matter which direction a ceiling fan blows?

If the blades are flat and parallel to the ceiling, it doesn’t matter which way they spin because they won’t move air up or down. They need to be angled wrt to the ceiling to move air up and down, only then does the direction of rotation matter. If you look from the edge of the blade towards the center (lengthwise), if the blade is offset CW, when the fan spins CCW as you look up the center, airflow will move air down.
