South Pacific islanders have consumed Kava root safely for thousands of years. The only known side effect is related to the consumption of extremely high amounts over a long period of time and consists of a dry skin condition, which disappears when consumption is reduced. This condition is known to develop in very heavy users (consuming the equivalent to, literally, hundreds of KavaZen 10 fl. oz. bottles on a daily basis for several months). This condition has never been reported in western countries' consumers. As to the allegations in the 2000 and the 1980's scare of kava being "hard on the liver", they have been fully debunked. Such are alcohol-related paradigms that do not apply to the consumption of Kava root when properly manufactured. Click here for more on kava's safety history.
