Does KCnet offer toll free (1-800) access?
No. However, KCnet’s GOLD dialup plan does offer nationwide service by providing local access numbers in over 2500 cities across the U.S. In addition, KCnet offers a variety of dialup plans with local access in the greater Kansas City metro area. If you find yourself traveling to other parts of the country, you can find a list of local access numbers in your area by accessing the Access Number Locator. If you do not find a number in your area, you would either have to dial in long distance or if you have access to the web from a local library, friend or internet cafe, you could use the web to access your KCnet account via our web-based email system. Be wary of providers who offer you an 800 access line. 800 access is not toll free. In fact most providers will charge you a premium of 12 or more cents per minute to use their 800 line. Since most people can now get their long distance for under 10 cents per minute, it is not cost effective to use an ISPs 800 line.
