A person living in Guangzhou or Hong Kong or Macao/ Macau can learn Cantonese easily, compared to someone living in Beijing or Shanghai or Foochow. Shanghainese, Fujianese, and Hakka are difficult to master also, given that different vocabulary is used compared to Cantonese & Mandarin. Some subdialects are hard to learn too. If you live close to someone who speaks these dialects, it’s easier to learn them.
