Does medical insurance cover childbirth?

Here in the Netherlands it is normal to give birth at home with the assitance of a midwife and this will normally be covered yes If you mean you wish to give birth in a hospital (and there is no medical requirement to do so) then it is also possible but many insurance companies will not cover these costs The costs are VERY expensive in hospital so make sure in advance (I had my two in hospital but had to have C-sections for both for medical reasons so the costs were re-embursed) Just give your insurance company a ring (or better still by Email so you have something in writing) and get them to confirm.
