Does Milk Thistle increase breastmilk supply?
To increase milk supply there are a number of things you can do – and TRY THEM ALL before you give up! =) Make sure you are drinking enough water. Some sources recommend 3 Liters, some say enough to keep your urine clear. I personally down about a gallon a day – it sounds like a lot, but it’s only two juice containers and it’s a habit. Eating oatmeal (old fashioned oats, that you can cook in the microwave) increases milk supply. I don’t know how it works, but it does. Herbal supplements: not “Milk Thistle”, Blessed Thistle is what you want. You can do a regimen of Blessed Thistle, Fenugreek, and Organic Mother’s Milk Tea. I have not yet personally tried these yet, but my midwife highly recommends them. If don’t already have one, you should invest in an electric double pump.
