Does my betta have fin rot?
It’s reeeaaalllly hard to give you my opinion without a picture. Fin rot sometimes does manifest with white edge which is usually dead tissue or infection be it fungal or bacterial. But some bettas have a white pigment in their fins. Other times, a fish that previously had rot or a tear will grow new tissue that sometimes shows up as white, much like on humans where a freshly healed wound will appear pale compared to the surrounding flesh. With rot, look for splits in the fins, or places where it literally looks as if the fin as disintegrated and fallen away. Infections will look fuzzy or stringy at times. In both cases also look for bloody fin tips or inflamed irritated areas on the fin edges. The best cure for fin rot is just clean filtered water. In most cases fin damage and rot heal on their own.
