Does pressure treated wood chips keep termites away?

CCA-treated wood is not recommended for use in any ground or chipped form, as the chemicals may leach out into the surrounding soil. Chipping increases the exposed surface area tremendously, and brings on a commensurate increase in leaching rates. I recommend using either rubber mulch, or a termite-resistant organic material such as melaleuca or cypress heartwood (if you can find it). Read up carefully on these last two, particularly melaleuca, as it has its own set of issues. On the whole, I’d opt for rubber. It’s more expensive, but will last a good long time, and invites no little munchers.
