Does putting a magnetic strip a fuel line help with fuel economy???
Any gadget claiming to affect your fuel consumption will have such a small affect that, even if it works at all, it would take longer than the life of the engine to come anywhere close to saving the equivalent of its purchase cost. Logically, if anything as cheap and simple as this device would make any noticeable improvement to fuel consumption the manufacturer would have already fitted it as standard. The car companies are very sensitive these days to fuel consumption and exhaust emissions so they wouldn’t miss any trick to make it better. Petrol molecules aren’t noticeably affected by weak magnetic fields. It certainly won’t make them any more reactive in the engine. It’s not just magnetic strips that sucker people. Which? magazine recently did quite a large field test of petrol and diesel additives and found that the best of them only gave a couple % improvement in mpg and didn’t cover their purchase cost.
