Does quantum superposition actually mean that two things are happening at the same time?
As the others have said, Schrodinger’s cat is more of a thought experiment that deals with the question: at what point does superposition break down? I do not see it as having a direct impact on the question you are asking: do two things in a superposition really happen at the same time? And, as with the other answers, I would agree that the answer to that is not really known. I can see your point about superposition being a cover for uncertainty in a system. That is a valid viewpoint that many people have. But it is not that simple. I would like to bring up a different experiment, that I think points to the answer that, to some extent, things are happening at the same time. And that experiment is the single-particle double slit experiment. In that experiment, you create a superposition of the photon or electron going through both slits, and then on the other side, you see a pattern that is created by the wavefunction of that particle interfering with itself.
