If you have what's called composite fillings, then a whitening product will NOT lighten the material. It is designed to go into the "pores" of the teeth and since composite is plastic and a designated color, it is not porous and will not bleach. Sometimes a DDS will change out old fillings after you have whitened the rest of your teeth so they can match the whitened results. For stains on the composite, a sonic toothbrush is usually helpful for breaking up those stains but again will not lighten the origional color of the composite! Hope this helps.  more
