Does school violence/deviant behavior impact academic performance of students?

As a whole, I would say it could be one of the most impacting factors. Children who have to worry about things at school [or at home] from something as minor as the school bully to inner city gang violence, cannot possibly put 100% into their studies. Their are some who still do very well in a bad environment, but I always wonder how much netter they might have been if in a safer, worry free environment. Schools have become more than just a place of learning, they have become daycares, second homes, latch-keys, and sometimes the only source of real food for kids. Some of this is beneficial for some kids, but it attracts a bad element in others.
