Does shutting off the main water inlet to the house (in the off-season) prevent pinhole leaks from occurring?
No. As long as there is water sitting inside the pipe, electrolytic corrosion will take place and can cause pinhole leaks. However, if Copper knight is installed between the shut off valve and the point of entry to the house, the pipe will be protected regardless of whether the water main is turned on or off.
