I’ve looked into this, and what’s really funny is everyone here keeps saying things like “studies have shown…” maybe they think it makes them sound credible. The truth is there are NO studies that have provided any conclusive evidence that links THC with birth defects, or learning disabilities. The only thing anyone can logically say is it MIGHT lead to lower birth weights, or premature babies because marijuana is smoked. Everything else anyone says is pure speculation. Since cannabis is illegal, people tend to assume it’s dangerous. So don’t listen to any answers that say it is proven to cause this defect or that problem, because they are full of BS. However…since you don’t know, why take a risk with your unborn baby? (That’s my politically correct statement, but cannabis might be useful for treating the nausea and as an appetite stimulant) I’m going to post a link to a 25 year study of marijuana use among pregnant mothers in Jamaica, the findings are quite shocking. No, it is not a good idea to smoke pot while you are prego. If you need it for medicinal purposes to cure nausea and morning sickness then I suggest doing it in HIGHLY LIMITED doses only when necessary. and not at all after the 4th month (beginning of 2nd trimester). Smoking of any kind can cause lung problems in adults and infants, so as I said it is best to refrain. . If they test you (at the hospital) and find it in your system that can cause you a whole other set of problems,,,(i.e. child services) I am going through the same thing right now. I am 6 weeks pregnant and just stopped smoking 10 days ago (as soon as i found out i was pregnant). So far I haven’t had any morning sickness and knowing that I have a precious life growing inside of me has been all the motivation i need not to smoke. Its only 9 months and the reward is GREAT! Best of luck to you and your baby.

well i heard smoking cigarettes is worse for you and the baby during pregnancy…but marijuana is still bad while pregnant…i’ve never heard of it causing complications during pregnancy but I heard it can cause the baby to have low birthweight, and when they get older, to have ADHD, and also other learning disabilities and behavioral problems. Smoking marijuana frequently while pregnant will definitely potentially set your child up to have a hard time in school early on, and to be sent out of class, put in special ed, etc and thus make life for them as an adult harder too. Do you really want your child to suffer like that? It’s only 9 months, it’s not your whole life, can’t you wait til their out of you to smoke (but not around them of course)? It always annoys me when people think if the effects aren’t immediate on the newborn then it must be okay to do, but some bad habits that dont necessarily have a direct impact on the pregnancy or the baby’s health, can have effects later on whe
