Does tanning make stretch marks worse?

I think tanning for stretch marks is probably a bad idea and will make them worse in the long run, it’s like you shouldn’t get scars in the sun, the skin’s more sensitive, so I think I’d be a little careful of that.

On One Hand: Using Sunless TannersBy selecting a sunless tanning product containing DHA, or erythrulose if you are allergic to DHA, you can achieve safe, even skin coverage, according to Sunless.com. Such self-tanning creams and salon spray-tans even out skin tone around stretchmarks. On the Other: Getting a SuntanStretchmarks are caused by tears and scarring of the subcutaneous layer of the skin. Scar tissue cannot produce melanin, the skin color pigment that is increased by tanning. Tanning outdoors or in an ultraviolet (UV) bed darkens melanin areas around stretchmarks, making them more noticeable, or “worse,” over time.Bottom LineSunless tanning products containing DHA provide better coverage of stretchmarks and remain a safer alternative to tanning outdoors or in a UV bed.
