No! TROPT sensitive is not a substitute for ECG! It will, however, be of help when the ECG gives no clear results as in more than 30 percent of all cases. On the other hand, patients with an elevated troponin T value definitively have a myocardial infarction and require further testing even if the ECG is unremarkable and symptoms are not clear-cut.
