28 days is the USP chapter <51> testing requirement for Multiple-Dose Containers to be used under any conditions. The BUD on some products may be labeled more or less than 28 days, at the discretion of the manufacturer. 24. The Chapter only mentions the expiration dates for single-dose and multi-dose vials. What is the appropriate expiration date for eye drops and for multi-dose vials of oral solutions if commercially made? For ophthalmics, the expiration date is labeled by the manufacturer. Multi-dose vials of oral solutions are not required to be sterile; thus, <797> does not apply thereto.
