Does the cambrian explosion support the idea of evolution?
I was watching a show that was talking about this On-Demand. History Channel’s Evolve: Jaw I think. They were saying that what it likely was that triggered such a multitude of adaptations was the advent of advanced predation. An arms race in a more simplistic term. Some animals grew new ways to hunt and kill other animals, so in turn other creatures that were the prey found new ways to defend themselves and so on. Over several millions of years, a few scuttling and floating creatures literaly exploded into a multitude of species with various adaptaions to better hunt stronger shelled animals and animals to better defend from exoskeleton-crushing jaws. Some even think poisonous trilobytes might have even existed. And of course earlier forms existed. In evolution, you just don’t go from jellyfish to trilobyte in a flash. Like you don’t go from marsupial to chimpanzee. But this was mostly talking about how early forms of soft trilopytes and other weird creatures that are no longer with us
