Does the climate in England determine why we are such a miserable lot?

I have lived in England in the middle of the winter and the weather really wasn’t that bad, and I’m from California. I live in northern Germany now and the weather is a hell of a lot worse (right by the Baltic Sea) and people here are a lot more miserable, so it can be attributed to bad weather.

Well everybody always complains when it gets hot, and then when it isn’t complains we don’t have enough sun, so I would say it wasn’t. Because it seems everyone is miserable about the climate regardless of whether its good or not.
