Does the Commission provide a mediation or ombudsmen service to help a complainant negotiate with the institution a remedy for a specific problem?
The Commission’s complaint process is not designed to result in a specific remedy such as a tuition refund, a grade change, firing of a particular faculty member, reinstatement to a program, or other. Even if the Commission agrees to accept a complaint and file an inquiry with the institution, the inquiry will be directed to determining whether there is non-compliance with an accrediting requirement not to identifying a remedy for particularized aspects of the complainant’s concerns with the institution.
