I think you will find that in many ways the lower paid people will effectively be the least affected. The ones that get hammered worst (in relation to their lifestyle etc) are the ones with fairly new mortgages on houses’ bought at peak prices. If their firm folds and they lose their job they have no longer got the means to service a huge mortgage and have a negative equity situation.
