Does the DfES advocate the use of shock-tactics?
The DfES knows that shock-tactics alone do no work. However, it believes that age and developmentally appropriate messages about the impact of drugs should be integrated into a well-planned programme of drugs education. Impacts may include underachievement at school, the breakdown of relationships with family and friends, short-term health risks, financial difficulties and acquiring a criminal record.
