Longer symptom duration was related to worse outcomes after operative and nonoperative treatment. The purpose of this study is to determine if duration of symptoms (DOS) affects outcomes following the treatment of intervertebral lumbar disc herniation (IDH). An as-treated analysis was performed on patients enrolled in the Spine Patient Outcomes Research Trial (SPORT) for the treatment of IDH.
