Does the Japanese Spitz have the same temperament/personality of a Samoyed?
I had a Samoyed growing up too! He was such a great companion and wonderful part of our family, bless his soul. Friends of mine have a Japanese Spitz, and its temperament is TOTALLY different. Then again, it has a lot to do with the owner and training methods, so its hard to say. This dog, although very friendly, is INCREDIBLY stubborn, nothing like my obedient Czar (my Sammy). These people are experienced owners too, and they do try very hard with training… although obedience classes probably wouldn’t do them any harm 😀 But that is the only Japanese Spitz I’ve ever encountered, so I can’t generalize the breed. I don’t know if this helps… just a little perspective though.
