Does the MMR (measels, mumps and rubella) vaccine cause autism?

No. Despite much media hype by the likes of Jenny McCarthy and others, there is NO evidence that ANY vaccine causes autism. Millions and millions of children have been vaccinated over many, many years. Some of those children developed autism. This means there is a correlation, and this is what often confuses people. Correlation is NOT causation. Think of it this way. If you looked at all the children who developed autism, you would find that most of them had received vaccinations. But you also might find that many of the children who developed autism had also been fed peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Does this mean that peanut butter and jelly causes autism? No. Correlation is not causation. Many people in asian countries eat a lot of rice. Many of them also have straight, dark hair. Does this mean that eating a lot of rice causes you to have straight, dark hair? No! Again, correlation is not causation. You can check out the facts, including the results of recent studies, at the CDC
