Its been on the cards for a long time,and very few clubs are acclimatising to the situation.Celtic are one of the very few to screw the head,and even though Lawwel gets a lot of stick for being tight,he is doing the right thing.I think the big two should be ok,as there are usually backers who will get involved with the bigger names.Saying this,the way Ibrox is going they are going to have to do something very sharpish.As for the smaller clubs,they are going to have to rein their spending in,and concentrate not with competing with the top clubs,and instead just think about surviving.At the end of the day,all the worlds leagues would be in the same state if the money for tv rights coming in was the same as ours.If there is not a big pot coming in from tv,the ability to attract decent players with a decent wage will never be there.I dont think the standard of football outside the top two has diminuished that much,whereas the top two have gone downhill.I hate to see clubs go bust,as you ca

As a Celtic fan no, it doesn’t. Celtic have been very prudent over the last 5 years and are now in a sound financial position: as good as, or better than, any big club in Europe in fact. It was just a matter of time before the other teams in Scotland had to take a reality check before it was too late for them. However, I don’t want to see ANY other SPL club go to the wall, it wouldn’t be good for the game. I would be quite happy to see some of the hopeless, unambitious spongers from the bottom two divisions going out of business though, teams that never do anything and never will. The whole game here needs restructured. We need a pyramid structure similar to what they have in England, with an SPL1 of, say, 12 teams, and an SPL2 of 18 or 20. Then the money will be split between 30-32 teams rather than 42 as it is now.
