Does the ODPP have a published policy in relation to prosecutions?
The Prosecution Guidelines of the ODPP are published electronically by the ODPP, and are publicly available. The Prosecution Guidelines are continually reviewed and revised and republished as required. The latest publication was issued in October 2003. • What issues does the ODPP take into account in deciding whether to prosecute or continue a prosecution?[Top] See Prosecution Guideline 4 as to the issues taken into account. • What information does the ODPP provide to victims?[Top] The ODPP seeks to provide information to victims about the trial process and their role as a witness as soon as possible after taking over a matter. The ODPP seeks to keep victims advised of progress of the prosecution (eg changes to charges, court dates and court results). See Prosecution Guideline 19.
