Does the planet called Nibiru exist?
The planet Jupiter, which the ancient Sumerians called Nibiru, does indeed exist. The Nibiru of the 2012 end of the world hoax does not. It was invented by Zecharia Sitchen from his misinterpretation of Sumerian writings. His imaginary planet was to return in 2085. Nancy Lieder, who thinks she is getting messages from aliens through a brain implant, had been using Planet X for her 2003 doomsday. When it unsurprisingly failed to show up, she hijacked Sitchen’s fake planet and changed her doomsday to 2012 to coincide with Jose Arguelles misinterpretation of the Mayan calendar. Arguelles, by the way, thinks he is a reincarnated Mayan priest. Suffice it to say that this is a hoax created by crackpots. The con artists, seeing a chance to make money, picked it up and ran with it.
