Yes, the r1 is equipped with a light sensor, located on the lower left corner of the front panel, which automatically adjusts the brightness of the display to correspond to the current amount of light in a room. If you disable the Night Light function in Setup mode, the backlight of the display will shut off completely after a brief period of inactivity.
