Does the responding organization have to be a non-profit or tax exempt organization?
For-profit entities that are healthcare stakeholders are strongly encouraged to participate in the planning grant applications. A for-profit hospital, for example, could convene and host meetings, have a role in the governance structure included in the grant application, solicit and write letters of support and be a very active participant in the application. The grantees (the organizations that actually receive and account for the planning funds), however, must be formal or incorporated organizations based in Illinois and engaged in not-for-profit or public assistance or related functions.
