Does the state of Georgia require the purchaser to obtain hazard insurance?
It is the responsibility of the purchaser to obtain a fire and hazard insurance policy prior to closing. Most mortgage underwriters require a declaration page from the insurance carrier prior to the loan being approved with the maximum value of the policy equivalent to the loan amount. It is the purchaser’s responsibilty to furnish the paid reciept at closing.
