Does the Task Force investigate animal cruelty complaints?

0

No. Vermont’s criminal animal cruelty statute gives enforcement authority to law enforcement officers, humane society agents, and local board of health officers. Members of the Task Force can act in an advisory capacity (see response network link) to the lead investigating agency or municipality, but the coalition has no law enforcement powers itself to investigate complaints. Complaints should first be directed to your local animal shelter, law enforcement agency or municipality. The Task Force may come in at their request to provide further assistance.
