Does the temperature of water affect its flow rate?
Science is really much harder work than most people suspect. You have done a few experiments that give confusing results, and you are right to be confused! But I suspect that in each case there were other factors involved, and gave the impression that the change was due to the temperature of the water. This is something that scientists confront all of the time. When something like that occurs, one has to repeat the experiments again and again, partly to sort out misleading results, partly to understand the mechanism of the ‘surprise’. And we even have to find ways to trick ourselves into not expecting one answer or the other, since the mind can be very clever at ’tilting’ the results of experiments to say what we want them to say. There is even a technique called, ‘double blind’ studies to address this.
