Does the test work for a heavily coloured/sedimented sample?

Yes, we have in fact tested bio solids from a sewerage treatment plant in RCT S solids jars and found the sediment settled out, and the affect of the colouring agent was still extremely clear to the eye. Water from several locations on the Yarra River in Melbourne were also tested successfully. We have also used the RCT S solids jars to test sewage contaminated soil of 70 samples from a catchment in a study conducted by University of Technology Sydney. In this case, we first removed the above ground litter (the A horizon) and then measured out 10 g of soil to put into the RCT S lid: this was compared with the results from Coliquik collected by sampling the fluid wash using a field filter bag and sterile water. Exactly the same results were found. Since that time, we have now adjusted the Micro Magic’s to read reflected light if transmitted light is not found.
