Does the type of audio device I compress files on affect the compression speed?
• To some extent, yes. The speed of the internal file system varies quite widely between devices, and the interface to the computer affects speed as well. For example, a USB 2.0 device transfers data much faster than a USB 1.0 unit, and Firewire is even better! If your player supports USB 2.0 (or a faster interface such as Firewire) then the highest possible processing speed will be obtained. Naturally, you should close other programs if at all possible.
