Does the United States of America add sales tax onto childrens clothes?
The United States does not charge a sales tax. The states (and in some states, the counties and cities) charge sales tax. Each state has its own rules. And in some states, those rules can change from county to county. I live in Pennsylvania, which does not charge sales tax on clothing. Our neighboring state to the east, New Jersey, does not as well. However, our southern neighbor, Maryland does charge sales tax on clothing. And in New York, our neighbor to the north, clothing is not taxed by the state but can be taxed by the city and county. And then, Delaware, our neighbor to the southeast has no sales tax at all.
