Does the Vantage Service provide QoS??
Since Quality of Service (QoS) refers to the ability to deliver a quality connection resulting in a quality voice call, a Guaranteed QoS level is required in order to provide a reliable business class voice call. In the IP convergence world, all traffic travels across the network in the form of data packets. Since voice transmissions are time and structure sensitive, the data transmission media must be reliable and predictable. Without guaranteed QoS, the voice packets may be contending with other packet types and as such are subject to a “best effort” transmission, which could result in less than acceptable quality of the voice call. Vantages standard VIP Service is installed with a clear-channel data T-1 circuit which guarantees a QoS enabled connection. Conversely, a typical broadband cable or DSL circuit will usually lack a QoS mechanism, so the quality of the circuit is less predictable.
