I believe it does, although I am disinclined to be taken up with eschatological speculation and date setting. I am persuaded that the renewal of Jewish political independence is an act of God, in fulfilment of his covenant promises. This fulfilment is a proclamation of the faithfulness and grace of God, who is true to his covenant even when the covenant people have broken covenant. I also believe that such gracious faithfulness imposes on the liberties of our people, the Jews, and that we are, by them, duty bound to righteousness, holiness and the fear of God. Instead of fulfilling these duties, we have created a corrupt, ungodly, libertine, materialistic and aggressive society much like those in the days of Hosea and Amos. If prophecy is to mean anything, it surely means that we are ripe for judgment unless we, as a nation, hasten to repent and seek God‚s mercy.
