Does this project affect the National Park Services (NPS) plan to create the Georgetown Waterfront Park?
The deconstruction of Whitehurst will not affect NPS’s plans. Through Congressional appropriations and private fundraising, nearly $12 million has been raised for a new park to include open space, gardens, bicycle and running trails and scenic overlooks with construction scheduled to begin this fall. Evans believes the deconstruction will improve the Waterfront Park. Two design workshops are scheduled to look at obstacles and potential solutions presented by the deconstruction of the Whitehurst: Saturday, April 30 10:00 am to 2:00 pm Palisades Library 4901 V Street, NW Saturday, May 7 10:00 am to 2:00 pm Hardy Middle School 1819 35th Street, NW For more information about Evans’ position on the waterfront, please contact Evans’ DDOT liaison, Sean Metcalf. For information regarding DDOT’s study, please contact Ramona Burns. *A document used to evaluate the potential environmental impacts of a project, evaluate reasonable alternatives to the project, and identify mitigation measures neces
