Does this project include an indoor swimming pool, gym or walking track?
No, this project includes a replacement outdoor pool similar in size with stairs for easier senior access, a zero-depth children’s pool, a replacement bath house and a parking lot. All improvements will be built to ADA standards, as required by law. How many people actually use the pool each year? On average, 17,000 patrons use the pool each season during public swimming hours. The pool has on average 1,370 individual pass holders each season. In addition to the use during public hours, 450 local youth go through the swim lesson program each summer. The Monticello pool is also home to the “Monticello Marlins,” the summer recreation swim team which has on average 60 youth participate each summer. Will this project require digging within the neighboring cemetery? No. No improvements will be made off city-owned property.
