Does UCF support TeX or LaTeX for ETD?
Our research suggests that fewer than 5% of UCFs ETD students attempt to use LaTeX (or its derivatives), a programming language familiar to certain mathematical disciplines. While in the past, LaTeX offered users easier textual integration of complex equations, newer plug-in software available for mainstream (and more user-friendly) word processing programs has, in our view, minimized its need for ETD. As a result, UCF offers only referral ETD support for TeX and LaTeX users. If you or your adviser insists on your use of LaTeX, be aware that your own knowledge, and that of experienced users in your department, is likely your best resource for adapting LaTeX documents to UCF’s ETD requirements. Also be aware that several existing TeX and LaTeX templates, now out of date with UCFs formatting requirements, continue to circulate. Please appreciate that significant formatting changes and LaTeX knowledge may be necessary.
