Flying US Airways means that you may be assessed a heavy baggage fee. This is something that you want to be aware of before you depart for the airport. If your bag weights more than this limit you are going to run into heavy baggage fees. Bags between 51 and 70 pounds are assessed a first bag fee of $65, a second bag fee of $75, and a third through ninth bag fee of $150. Bags between 71 and 100 pounds are assessed a first bag fee of $115, a second bag fee of $125, and a third through ninth bag fee of $200. Bags weighing more than 100 pounds are not allowed to be checked. Applicable weight fees are assessed no matter your flying status, or your departing and arriving city. The best way to avoid these excess fees is to weigh your bags after packing so that you know what to expect at check-in.
